About Me
About My Partner
I have recently decided that if I ever become famous, I will need a very patient person to write my biography. Not because my life is especially scandalous, but because I would probably interrupt every second paragraph to explain that things didn't happen exactly like that. I have a complicated relationship with being misunderstood. Not the dramatic kind where I expect everyone to read my mind. Quite the opposite. I find it fascinating how two people can witness the same situation and walk away with completely different stories. One remembers the conversation, another remembers the atmosphere, and a third is still thinking about the dessert. As a translator, I am supposed to help meanings survive the journey from one language to another. Unfortunately, real life doesn't come with subtitles. Sometimes I say something that sounds perfectly reasonable in my head, only to discover from someone's expression that my message has arrived in a completely unexpected form. I think this is why I appreciate people who ask instead of assuming. There is something refreshing about someone who can simply say, Wait, what did you mean by that? It saves an impressive amount of unnecessary drama. I am also not particularly interested in winning the imaginary competition for the most fascinating life. I don't need every weekend to become an adventure or every photograph to prove that I am having an incredible time. Some of my favorite moments are probably too ordinary to photograph and too difficult to explain to anyone who wasn't there. That doesn't mean I lack ambition. I have plenty of things I want to learn, places I want to visit and experiences I want to collect. I just don't want to confuse a full calendar with a full life. Those are two very different things. One of my favorite qualities in people is the ability to admit that they don't know something. I find it much more attractive than a confident explanation invented on the spot. There are billions of things none of us understand, and pretending otherwise seems like an exhausting hobby. So here I am on a dating site, attempting to introduce myself through a collection of sentences that will inevitably leave out most of the interesting details. Somewhere a man may be reading this and deciding whether I sound like someone he would enjoy knowing. I hope he doesn't make his decision too quickly. I would like love and a relationship in which we can be curious about each other without constantly trying to interpret hidden messages. Where we can ask questions, laugh at misunderstandings and occasionally admit that our brilliant explanation made absolutely no sense. And if we ever have an argument about what I actually said, I promise to consider his interpretation. I cannot promise to agree with it, but I will certainly consider it.
My favorite hobby is learning languages. I love discovering how people from different countries express their thoughts, feelings and even humor. Sometimes one unusual word can tell you more about a culture than an entire travel guide. And I find it fascinating that the same sentence can sound romantic in one language and absolutely ridiculous in another!
I came to this dating site with a simple but exciting idea. Somewhere in the world there is a man whose story hasn't crossed mine yet, and perhaps one conversation is all it takes to change that. I want a relationship where friendship grows into attr
